Research and development

We discover valuable bioactive components of plants and their applications in research conducted by experts from the Supercritical Extraction Research Group.

We carry out the process of extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide of various types of plant materials on a research scale from entrusted or own purchased raw materials, and we implement R&D projects aimed at understanding the composition of active substances and their properties.

We cooperate with entrepreneurs who implement the results of our research in their products from the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. We can transfer extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide to an industrial scale.

Our offer includes:

  • Extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide of substances from materials of plant origin (oils, resins, dyes, etc.).
  • Analysis of the composition of plant extracts.
  • Fractionation of extracts obtained by supercritical CO2 extraction.
  • New technologies using supercritical fluids: micronization, encapsulation, catalytic processes, pyrolysis, oxidation in supercritical water.
  • Research on the processes of preliminary preparation and extraction of natural raw materials.
  • Optimization of parameters of supercritical extraction processes.
  • Research on impregnation processes for polymers, especially those of natural origin.
  • Research on the encapsulation processes of extracts.
  • Research on biomass pyrolysis processes in supercritical conditions.

As part of the research center, we have:

– laboratory installation: (1L extractor) with the possibility of feeding a co-solvent (water, ethanol),

– quarter-technical installation (20L and 40L extractor) and semi-technical installation (two 40L extractors),

– laboratory installation for micronization (1L extractor) with the possibility of implementing the RESS (Rapid Expansion of Supercritical Solutions) and SAS (Supercritical Antisolvent Process) processes.
